Restrictive Early Action or Regular Decision

Stanford has two freshman application options:

Restrictive Early Action

Restrictive Early Action is a non-binding option for students who have completed a thorough college search and are confident Stanford is their first choice. Admission decisions are provided by December 15 but admitted students have until May 1 to respond to their offer.

Regular Decision

Regular Decision is Stanford's traditional application option. We employ the same standards for admission in Regular Decision as we do in Restrictive Early Action. The deadline to apply for Regular Decision is January 1.
