Pam
Grossman
Dr. Grossman's teaching and research interests center on
the education of teachers, the relationship between teacher education and
knowledge, and policy and programmatic issues related to teacher
education. Her publications include: The Making of a Teacher: Teacher
Knowledge and Teacher Education, a co-edited volume (with Sam Wineburg),
entitled Interdisciplinary Curriculum: Challenges to Implementation, as
well as articles in Teachers College Record, American Educational Research
Journal, Educational Researcher, Journal of Literacy Research, Teaching
and Teacher Education , Review of Research in Education, among others. Her
current research includes a study of pathways into teaching in New York
City schools (with Don Boyd, Hamp Lankford, Susanna Loeb, and Jim Wyckoff)
and a cross-professional study of preparation of clergy, teachers, and
clinical psychologists. She has served as the Vice-President of Division K
(Teaching and Teacher Education) for the American Educational Research
Association and as a member of AERA’s Council and Executive Board.
Linda
Darling-Hammond
Linda Darling-Hammond’s research, teaching, and policy
work focus on issues of teaching quality, school reform, and educational
equity. She is the Charles E. Ducommun Professor of Education at Stanford
University, where she has launched the Stanford Educational Leadership
Institute and the School Redesign Network. Dr. Darling-Hammond is involved
with all aspects of TNE. She is Chair of the Research and Assessment Team,
is a member of the TNE Advisory Committee, and is the lead researcher on
the project, How Does Teacher Education Make a Difference: An Exploration
of the Relationships among Teacher Education, Teaching Practices, and
Student Learning.
Andrea Lunsford
Andrea Lunsford is the Louise Hewlett Nixon Professor of
English and Director of the Program in Writing and Rhetoric at Stanford
University. She has designed and taught undergraduate and graduate courses
in writing history and theory, rhetoric, literacy studies, and
intellectual property. Before joining the Stanford faculty, Professor
Lunsford was Distinguished Professor of English and Director of the Center
for the Study and Teaching of Writing at Ohio State University. Currently
also a member of the Bread Loaf School of English faculty, Professor
Lunsford earned her B.A. and M.A. degrees from the University of Florida
and completed her Ph.D. in English at The Ohio State University.
Sandy Dean
Sandy Dean is a National Board Certified Teacher who
currently coordinates the National Board Resource Senter at Stanford
University. She was a classroom teacher for over twenty years mostly in
the elementary grades. Sandy has been involved in school reform projects
at the site and district levels. She was a task force member contributing
to the development of California Master Plan for K-12 education, and is
currently a memeber of the task force on Teaching and California's Future.
She has been a Carnegie Scholar, a literacy coordinator, a support
provider for National Baord candidates, has led many professional
development activities, and participated in collaborative teacher research
projects on writing and language development.
Laura
Burns-Wood
Laura Burns-Wood joined the TNE team in October 2006 and
brings more than five years of Stanford University experience to the team.
In addition she has over 15 years of corporate event planning and graphic
art design experience in the Silicon Valley. Her work varies from local
venues to large multi-media presentation conferences. For the last two
years she has volunteered her time in creating art with autistic children
within her local school district. She has a degree in Fine Art from UC
Santa Cruz, a Graphic Arts degree from US Santa Cruz Extension and a
paralegal degree from De Anza College.
Jeff
Wachtel
Jeff Wachtel is Senior Assistant to the President
and Secretary of the Board of Trustees of Stanford University. In his role
as president’s assistant, he provides advice and counsel to President John
Hennessy and represents the President’s Office to individuals and
organizations both within and outside the university. As secretary, he
supports the leadership of the Board of Trustees in the creation,
evaluation, and promulgation of University policies; institutional
governance; long-term planning; and program development. Mr. Wachtel holds
a bachelor’s degree in urban studies and psychology from Stanford, a
master’s degree in city planning from the University of
California-Berkeley and a J.D. from the University of California-San
Francisco, Hastings College of the Law.
