Past Projects
1. Think! officially launched on February 6, 2000 with a "post-game show" after the 10:00 showing of Fight Club at Flicks. Movie-goers emerged from the Auditorium to the tune of "It's a Small World After All" and were herded down the middle steps of the building by fences of red duct tape on both sides. Beyond each fence, we projected slides onto large canvases -- corporate icons on one side and images of destruction and destitution on the other. To add to the visual overload, we carpeted the floor with six different fliers (available below), inscribed the group name and website on the ground in chalk, and projected our logo onto Hoover Tower.
2. During National Eating Disorder Awareness and Prevention Week, Think! hosted a table to enforce positive body image. We provided lipstick and dry-erase markers and mirrors for people to vent their feelings on the beauty industry and lookism in general, as well as stickers and fliers to promote awareness and positive body image. In addition, we are encouraging people to break a mirror in support of healthy body image.
3. At the MSNBC event "Summit in Silicon Valley", Think! made an appearance. Two members unfurled a banner which read "You've Got Monopoly" from the balcony of Memorial Auditorium. Though the banner was swiftly confiscated by security, we did notice many of the CEOs onstage laughing. Later in the program, a "bull-horn" toting protester asked emcee Tom Brokaw to return the banner, and also reminded the panelists that Stanford is in fact a university and not another dotcom.
4. During Tuesday of finals week, a couple of us got ahold of the megaphone and read the Penelope chapter of Ulysses to passing Stanford students. One hopes it diverted attention spans -- even for a second -- from the academic to the intellectual.
5. In October of 2000, in the midst of the epic "Foothills" debate, Think! and 250 members of the newly disorganized Foothill Liberation Front marched to the dish. Full details and coverage are on the site.
