2008 Event Details
The 23nd Annual Theta Breakers Run for the Children is a certified 5K walk/run and 10K run through Stanford University's beautiful campus during Reunion Homecoming Weekend. Participants of all ages and fitness levels are welcome. All proceeds benefit Child Advocates of Silicon Valley.
WHEN: Sunday, October 12th.
WHERE: Pac-10 Plaza, on the corner of Nelson Road and Galvez Street, Stanford University.
SCHEDULE: Race-Day registration starts at 8am. Warm-ups begin at 8:30am, and races start at 9am sharp. Participants and spectators are invited to stay for post-race awards, food, music, and a prize raffle. Event ends at 11am.
REGISTRATION & COSTS: Online registration is available at www.active.com. Please search "Theta Breakers." While participants are encouraged to register online, race day registration is also available at Pac-10 Plaza, starting at 8am. Registration is $15 for Stanford students, $20 for Stanford alumni, and $25 for community members. All registered participants receive a commemorative T-shirt, registered number, and a goodie bag.
COURSE: The 5K and 10K courses are certified, paved, flat, fast loop courses. They begin outside the Stanford Stadium, tour the Stanford campus, and end in the Pac-10 Plaza between the Sunken Diamond Baseball Field and the Avery Aquatic Center.
DIRECTIONS: From El Camino- Exit El Camino Real at University Avenue. Turn toward the hills (away from the center of Palo Alto). As you enter Stanford, University Avenue becomes Palm Drive. Go through one traffic light and turn left onto Campus Drive at the first stop sign. Turn left at Galvez Street, the next stop sign. Turn right onto Nelson Road. Pac-10 Plaza is at the end of Nelson Road. From Highway 101 North & South- Take the Embarcadero Road exit west toward Stanford. At El Camino Real, Embarcadero turns into Galvez Street as it enters the universtiy. Stay in the left lane and turn left on Nelson Road. From Highway 280 North & South: Exit 280 at Sand Hill Road, heading east. Make a right turn on Santa Cruz Avenue, then a left turn onto Junipero Serra Boulevard. Turn left at the second stoplight, Campus Drive East. Continue around Campus Drive East until you get to Galvez Street. Turn right onto Galvez, and right on Nelson Road.
PARKING: Free parking is available in the Stanford Stadium Varsity Parking Lot, Cobb Track parking lots and Galvez Field.
