Calendar

Please go to http://thais.stanford.edu/step/calendar.html for the current calendar. The events in green are academic-related, the ones in orange are the recommended speaker series, and the ones in blue are STEP events. Although we will try to stick to the schedule, changes in the calendar are to be expected. New, interesting events might be added, for example. So please check the schedule regularly.

Maps

Here are two online maps of the Stanford campus that would help you navigate through the Farm:

Transportation

The web sites of the main transportation systems on campus and in the Bay area are listed below:

  • Marguerite - Free bus service offered by the University. It takes you around the campus (not inside, where motorized vehicles are not permitted) as well as the Stanford Shopping Center, Palo Alto, Caltrain Station, and San Antonio Shopping Center.
  • 5-SURE - The University's escort service. The hours are from 9pm to 2am (3am on Friday and Saturday). They pick you up pretty much anywhere on campus with a golf cart and take you where you ask them to. Call 650-725-7873.
  • Caltrain - A train service running from downtown San Francisco to San Jose.
  • BART - A train service running around the Bay area, from Milbrae (south of SFO) to San Francisco to Berkeley to Oakland.

Other Links

Here you will find many links that you might find useful. It will be updated regularly, so please make sure you check it out every once in a while.

  • StanfordCourses - This is where you can find various courses currently offered as well as their meeting times and locations. Just search for anything you are interested in, like "astronomy", and click Search.
  • Facebook - One of the most popular sites for high school and college students in the US. 90% of Stanford students have a Facebook account. This is a great way for you to start getting connected with your hosts and friends here.
