About Us

Sigma Psi Zeta is a multicultural, Asian-Interest Greek Organization. SYZ was founded in 1994 and incorporated in 1996. It stands today as one of the largest and most distinguished Asian Interest sororities in the nation. SYZ promotes awareness of Asian/Asian American cultures through leadership, outreach, individual, community interaction, and most importantly, the bonds of sisterhood. We are a cultural, social, educational and community service oriented sorority.

Through a network of like-minded yet highly individualistic women, the sorority lends structure and support to sisters that share this SYZ vision – we believe the strength of our foundation derives from the unity of sisterhood. We work in collaboration with other Greek and non-Greek organizations to provide services for the local communities and the community at large. It is through our various participations in these cultural events, educational workshops, and philanthropic support that we make a difference. Nationally, regionally and individually, we strive to embody the ideals of Sigma Psi Zeta.

SYZters: Past and Present

Omicron Charter's Seven Founding Sisters

In Spring 2002, several of the founding sisters met with the hope of starting a group to foster the development and empowerment of Asian American women. As they talked that first day, they felt a common bond: they were all looking for a new level of friendship and support in our goal-oriented, independent lives. They had a vision to create a new Asian and Asian American interest sorority at Stanford University that focused on empowerment through leadership and outreach. They envisioned a family of sisters - one that exhibits dignity, leadership, ingenuity, and grace.

Sigma Psi Zeta sorority is currently a family of 18 active sisters. As a family, we are very proud of the many independent accomplishments of our current sisters and alumnae.
