Show me the money...
Hello businesswomen! No doubt you've heard at some point the term "I-banking" or "private equity" come up in conversations about post-college careers. This week and next we're excited to present 2 opportunities to participate in events "demystifying" a career in finance.
Lehman Brothers, one of the premier financial institutions in the world, is coming to campus this Thursday, November 9, to host an event with us featuring a range of female analysts from entry level to Vice President to introduce and explain the world of finance. The RSVP has passed for this event, but if you are still interested, e-mail events@stanfordwomeninbusiness.com to see if there are any available spots.
Goldman Sachs, another world renowned financial company, is also visiting Stanford the following week, Monday and Tuesday November 13-14. We are pleased to present a private meeting with the recruiters from Goldman Sachs, November 14 5:30pm (time still tentative). The women from Goldman Sachs have generously offered to help review resumes and talk more generally about a career in finance. THIS IS A LIMITED ADMISSION RSVP EVENT. PLEASE e-mail events@stanfordwomeninbusiness.com if you are interested in attending this event.
Finally, we are excited to open up this month's Mentor Mocha to ALL of you! We had such a great applicant pool for the mentor program, we wanted to give everyone an opportunity to come meet and chat with the mentors. Come join us and enjoy some coffee and Hobee's coffeecake November 14th at the WCC!
We look forward to seeing you all at these exciting upcoming events!

Past Events Recap
Business101: Case Study Workshop
A full audience came to hear GSB students conduct a mock case interview. Two members from the GSB Women in Management group used basic case-study techniques to analyze the case of a deodorant company trying to expand internationally, including: clarifying the question, asking interviewers for important information, establishing a framework for analysis, and giving a definite recommendation as an answer. The pair explained each step, then answered questions about what to do and not to do when analyzing a case.
Afterward, recruiters and consultants gave advice about what really matters in a case interview. Attendees learned to work on their numbers sense, to be comfortable asking interviewers for feedback, and to avoid bringing in new ideas in the final minutes of an interview.
