Falconer Library is implementing after-hours card access. Access when the library is open will not be affected by this change. Effective Monday, March 10, any physical keys for Falconer’s front door will no longer function. Access will be by use of an authorized Stanford ID only, and only facilities and emergency personnel will have a physical key.
Faculty, graduate students, postdocs, and academic staff are eligible for after-hours access. Orientation tours are required and can be arranged by appointment. For grad students and postdocs outside Biology, Falconer requires an email message from the student’s adviser stating that the student needs 24-hour access to Falconer’s materials. This message should be sent to falconerlibrary@stanford.edu.
Until the Evening Circulation Supervisor position is filled, the Engineering Library will NOT be able to accept fines and clear blocked records for users after 5PM, Monday–Friday. Instead, go to the Circulation Desk at the Green Library to resolve problems.
To help clarify if materials in storage are on-campus or off-campus, the names of the Stanford Auxiliary Libraries have been modified. These naming changes are:
SAL = Stanford Auxiliary Library [SAL1&2]
SAL-NEWARK = Off-campus [Newark]
SAL3 = Off-campus [SAL3]
One new position and replacements for two vacant positions (Karen Grieg and Susan Payne) were filled recently at the Engineering Library. Please join me in welcoming Sarah Lester, Kathleen Gust, and Pam Gore.
The Cambridge Structural Database has been updated. Any earlier versions you downloaded have expired. SuperStar, a program for Predicting Protein-Ligand Interactions Using Experimental Data, will be available for downloading for Stanford students, faculty, and staff soon.
Three methods are being used to make the CSD available to you:
Access to the bound journals has been partially restored. Abstract Papers of the ACS and Bioorganic Medicinal Chemistry remain inaccessible. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Due to a leaking roof, there will be no access to the bound journals until further notice. Please see Swain’s e-Journals page for online access to journals.
Stanford’s Falconer Biology Library and Swain Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Library are proud to announce that we are continuing our partnership with the New York Academy of Sciences. We will support a free membership for grad students and postdocs in the Departments of Biological Sciences, Chemistry, and Chemical Engineering. To join or renew, please go to the New York Academy of Science’s Stanford page and complete the registration form.
