

The Sexual Violence Advisory Board (SVAB) was convened in Fall 2005 by Vice Provost for Student Affairs Greg Boardman. The Board is charged with advising the Vice Provost on policies, protocols, programs, and services related to acts of campus sexual violence, including sexual assault, domestic violence, relationship violence, stalking, and other related acts.
MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Sexual Violence Advisory Board is to reduce the occurrence of sexual violence on campus and to provide guidelines to help ensure consistent compliance with the University’s Policy on Sexual Assault and related policies.To this end, the Board will:
- Strengthen and develop comprehensive coordinated victim assistance services, support and advocacy that are responsive to users needs.
- Strengthen coordinated prevention and early intervention programs, including the development of consistent messages that identify sexual assault and sexual violence as crimes that will not be tolerated on the Stanford campus.
- Strengthen and develop effective strategies for encouraging victims to report acts of sexual violence and to seek support.
- Strengthen and develop protocols for periodic evaluation and monitoring of sexual violence responses, and prevention programs and services.
- Make recommendations regarding training needs.
