IMAP Group Accounts Website

ITSS has a website that specifically addresses IMAP Group Accounts, how they work and how to set them up. On this website, you will find explanations of pricing, how to ask for a group account and how to setup your email client for group accounts. The URL is http://www.stanford.edu/dept/itss/services/imap/group.html

For SUL staff, you will need to send a HelpSU, which will need to contain the following information: Preferred name of the account, e.g., sultech, the names and SUNet IDs of all those who need to access the account and who the "owner" will be, which is the person taking responsibility for the account.

In order to clarify the differences, IMAP Group Accounts are accounts that enable more than one user to logon to a single account. This differs from @lists accounts, which provide a single email address that goes to more than one person.

If you have any questions about group accounts or @lists accounts, help deciding which you need, or any other questions, please send an email to Deni at dwicklun@stanford.edu

Email Quota Expirations

Many of you or those you support have received emails announcing that their email quota is due to expire, usually with a date that is about a month away. Should you or any of your staff receive this message, you should not worry. Deni receives a duplicate copy of the email and in response will extend the quota time significantly. Once the extension has been created, Deni will email the user letting him/her know that their quota is no longer near expiration.

Should your user NOT receive this verification email from Deni within a week of receiving initial notification, contact Deni at dwicklun@stanford.edu.

Circ Backup 2005 Stands up to Rigorous test

As you all know, Unicorn was down all day last Friday. For many that meant no work. But for those who worked Circulation Desks around SUL, the new tool, Circ Backup 2005, written by SUL Tech Support's Rob Smith, was implemented on Circ machines around SUL to capture patron charges. Thus far, there have been no reports of failure - quite the opposite. This application made it possible for patron to charge books out all day.

Everyone's help and participation was greatly appreciated.
