Our
students participate in a variety of extracurricular activities, and
consistently are recognized as one of the most able and high-spirited
groups in the School of Engineering. The ASCE Stanford Student Chapter
is an active organization consisting of both graduate and undergraduate
student members working on a variety of projects with societal and academic
implications. Annual projects include Habitat for Humanity workdays,
ASCE student competitions, seminars of academic and/or professional
nature, "happy hours" among members and non-members, and review
sessions for the EIT exam.
Socializing
is encouraged with happy hours sponsored by the Blume Center throughout
the year. There are also parties at the beginning and end of each academic
year, as well as the winter program and department parties. Our students
actively participate in an annual ski trip to Tahoe in the winter quarter,
and a hiking trip either to Pinnacles National Monument or Mount Tamalpais
in the spring quarter. A joint tail gate party in connection with the
football Big Game is also organized annually either by the Structures
and Geomechanics Program, Design-Construction Integration, or by the
Construction Engineering and Management Program through the AGC student
chapter.
