Darryl Wheye

The artist's interest in avian art has led to the production of book and magazine illustrations, and more recently, to the production of digital images such as those seen in the species treatment of this website.

Her interest in avian art history has led to a long-term study of the role of imagery in the formalization of ornithology as a science, and the interplay between the two over the 2,000-year written record of the discipline. She has recently completed Humans, Nature, and Birds: Science Art from Cave Walls to Computer Screens with Donald Kennedy.

Ms. Wheye lives in the San Francisco BayArea and may be reached at darrylw@stanford.edu.
