Science Art-Nature and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS)
present the
SCIENCE WITHOUT BORDERS ONLINE ART EXHIBITION
A Virtual Science Art Exhibition
in conjunction with the annual meeting of the
American Association for the Advancement of Science
Washington, D.C.
February 17 - 21, 2011
SCIENCE WITHOUT BORDERS, an on-line art exhibition,
was conceived to display and promote the best contemporary Science Art and
to encourage discourse between the scientific and artistic communities.
Designed as a companion to the national meeting of the American Association for the
Advancement of Science, each selected piece of art will correspond with a symposium topic.
Attendance at the meeting is expected to be around 10,000, so the virtual exhibit will
potentially be seen by thousands of scientists, engineers, educators,
and members of the media, in addition to the general online public.
ELIGIBILITY: The exhibition is open to any living artist. The work must be original and submitted as a digital image. Since the exhibition is on-line, works in any size or medium will be considered. The objective is to present a wide range of scientifically relevant artwork, in a wide range of artistic approaches and scientific disciplines.
Each work must correspond with a topic from the AAAS meeting (Topics), and be accompanied by a 100-word caption that provides viewers with a science lens—an explanation of the science portrayed—that will help them understand why the image is associated with the Topic. (Examples)
Science Art-Nature will assign a specialist in your field to assist you with this caption, should you desire.
LIMIT: There is no limit to the number of entries an artist may submit.
FEES: There will be a $20.00US donation for the first entry, $15.00US for each additional entry.
