SSO/SPO

Auditions for the Stanford Symphony Orchestra and the Stanford Philharmonia Orchestra are open to all members of the Stanford community.  Although students are given priority, we also welcome musicians from the local and non-Stanford community.

Auditions for the 2012-2013 season are closed.  Please contact Linh Tran (lttran@stanford.edu) to check on availability.

A complete audition consists of repertoire pieces and a solo piece of your choosing.  Each audition will be approximately 10 minutes long and will consist of two parts:

  • A solo work of your choice. This could be a part of a concerto, sonata, or a solo passage from a major orchestral work.
  • Orchestral excerpts. We have listed audition repertoire for each instrument. You can download and print them out using the links shown below. If you have difficulty getting music, email lttran@stanford.edu or call 650-725-2694

As part of the process in preparing for the audition, it is important that you listen to the professional recording of the excerpts.
