SSFL Off Campus
Stanford Students for Life is involved in service off campus. While on-campus events aim largely (although not exclusively) at education, our off-campus events are service oriented to aid those in need make good and fair choices. A few of our many events are:
Visits to Homes
One home that we visit is Heritage Home in San Jose. This
home is a safe place for pregnant women to live until the baby is born.
Women at this home are victims of poverty and violence. They come from
living on the streets, or have been kicked out by their parents,
boyfriends, or husbands because they refuse to get an abortion. The
Home gives them shelter, but also helps with job training, parenting
classes, and counseling. This is place where women who might otherwise
turn to abortion can receive help during their pregnancy. The existance
of homes like this is necessary if we expect women in any situation to
carry the baby to term -- without such resources, women feel that
abortion is their only choice. SSFL visits this home to provide the
women with fun, food, and holiday cheer. Over the years we have hosted
game nights (keep in mind that these women are quite lonely), decorated
the house for Christmas including donating a tree, and prepared dinner
for them while their kitchen was being renovated. |

| Walks For Life On January 22nd, 2005, members from SSFL participated in the first ever Walk for Life in San Francisco. Check our picture page for photos from the event. In 2000, SSFL participated in a Walk For Life hosted by the Pregnancy Care Center in Menlo Park. The event was to raise awareness in the community. It was great to see so many people from different backgrounds and ages gather on a Saturday morning to participate. |
