California Railroad Commission,
Station Construction Data, 1850-1900

Our railroad station construction dates were culled from various Railroad Commissioner's Reports from the late-19th century. This is not a complete account of all California Railroad Stations and will supplement the Commissioner's Reports with other sources. As of May 2009, we have construction dates for roughly two thirds of the historic stations listed in our database. We're on the lookout for more Commissioner's Reports and/or clues as to where we could turn to next for more rail construction information.

In particular, please note that the coastal line, stretching from San Jose to Wilmington along the coast, is still incomplete as we have not been able to find the relevant historic USGS Quads that would allow us to accurately trace/map the line.

Check back soon as we add more stations construction dates.
