Stanford Improvisors
The Players: Spring 2007
Dan Klein
Dan Klein is currently in his second year as the coach of the
SImps. A SImp of old yore, Dan has traveled far and wide in his
improv work before his return to Stanford. He is now a professor
in the Stanford Drama Department.
Bryce Meredig
Bryce wants all kids to know that books are not FUNdamental,
and that there was no pot of gold at the end of his Reading
Rainbow. He enjoys being German, and iced triple lattes.
Liz Gerber
On a serious note, Liz is a doctoral student looking at how
creative teams organize for innovation. On a not so serious
note, Liz loves playing with the SIMPS because she enjoys
sharing creative control, having fun, and saying "yes"
to all offers.
Daniel Jacobs
Daniel enjoys long walks on the beach, pictureseque sunsets,
and poems that speak of spring. He also knows how to fly, can
speak in 12 different languages, and makes a mean spinach
souffle.
Jacob Bien
Jacob can be brief.
Jill Wurzburg
I didn't do it.
Rico Roque
When not creating open source software with JavaScript or
posing as a border collie, Rico ruthlessly penalizes criminal
acts performed as part of an ongoing criminal organization (Rico
doesn't tackle the small time crooks). Aliases include: Caesar
Enrico Bandello, Suave, Trombone Man, and "That other
SImp.".
Josh Meisel
Josh Meisel owns an electric toothbrush, but rarely waits the
full 2 minutes. He also owns a nice bowtie, but cannot tie it,
and wants to learn.
Austin Zumbro
Austin Zumbro has killed something on every continent. And
not sissy things like household insects, but manly things like
big manly things like huge, caribou-eating insects. Like the
kind that live in caves and demand sacrifices from local
villagers. Austin has also killed caribou. And local villagers.
Deshka Foster
...emerging from the darkness and into the light...
Andrew Haller
Just a good old boy trying to make a decent living in this
crazy, mixed up world.
Ben Whaley
Our illustrious musical improvisor (MImp), famed throughout
the land.
Deb Meisel
Deb loves that feeling when you laugh so hard it hurts.
Laughter is also Deb's preferred form of emotional therapy, just
in case it hurt a little too much.
Tom Hurlbutt
Shoot, I'm looking the wrong way again...
Troy Steinmetz
Troy denies any involvement with the events of that night. He
was out golfing with his good friends, Ben Mahalo and Lucia
Cohen. However, he would like to note that Kevin Montag was
originally scheduled to join their foursome. He arrived thirty
minutes late, covered in blood and peanut butter. Take from that
what you will.
Katie Taylor
Katie, hailing from Carmichael, CA, interestingly enough has
both a car and a brother named Michael. She also has one cat and
10 orchids that she enjoys caring for. In her free time, Katie
likes to eat pistachios, play frisbee, nap, and imagine what
life would be like if humans didn't have thumbs, in that
order. As for life goals, Katie hopes to be a famous painter or
a younger and hipper Dr.Ruth.
Claire Slattery
Claire is mysterious like Nancy Drew in hot pursuit on a
Friday night. Claire is persistent like your brother sitting
next to you saying repeatedly, "I'm not touching you!"
during an 8-hour car ride. Claire is wild like a peacock let
loose on the paths of a child's petting zoo. Claire is intense
like that burning sensation when you pee.
Grace Mandler
Grace was born in a land of plenty. Still lives there, too.
Felicity Grisham
Felicity would like to thank her father for contributing
enough money for her to get accepted into SImps. She can be seen
cruisin' in her Hummer, shooting her potato gun at poor riffraff
around campus.
David Klaus
Klaus goes by his last name for reasons far too mysterious to
reveal here. He even rather likes his first name. But David
is just not a suitable title for an international bounty hunter
posing as a Stanford Improvisor. Oh crap, I just revealed it,
didn't I? And I stopped talking in third person.
Barry Fischer
Barry thrives off the simple things in life, including triple
word scores in Scrabble, ladders in Chutes and Ladders, and
peanut butter and raisins on celery sticks.
Bobby Hughes
New to the SIMPS, Bobby wishes he hadn't broken his leg this
quarter. Soon to graduate with a Master's degree in product
design, Bobby loves to build and create new things...real and
imaginary. His most recent work is the beard on his face and the
sleepiness of this eyes.
Mary Kate Hurlbutt
We've replaced Mary Kate's bio with one that wasn't written
by her. Let's see if she notices the difference...
Chris Young
Chris is excited a to kick off a new generation of Mimping,
hopefully bringing a new musical perspective to the illustrious
position. While jazz is his specialty, you might catch him
rocking on some classical, pop, or if you're really lucky some
of the songs from his 3rd grade band...
