Zeta Class
Spring 2007

#2, Thriller

Hola! Some people would describe me as silly and random, and there is oh so much more to me... I grew up right around Stanford since the second I was born. I currently live down Palm Drive/University Avenue in East Palo Alto with my parents and two older brothers. I also grew up around my cousins and we are all really close. At family parties and such I can usually be found hanging out with my cousins Monica, Cristian, Cassandra, and Nuritzi. We're lucky that our parents all bought houses relatively close to each other so we can stay in touch more easily. On campus I live in Uj and I have a feeling I'll be there til I graduate. I had a roommate freshman year and sophomore year I have a wonderful single. I enjoy in it here most days, but it's not always conducive to getting work done!

Before coming to Stanford I had my heart set on attending medical school and becoming an ophthalmologist. Freshman year I decided to explore other interests, but I am back to my original plan! I'm majoring in Human Biology and fulfilling the pre-medical requisites. I plan to complete my courses and apply to medical school in 2012 after taking a couple years off to work in the Bay Area or LA.

When I'm not studying or in the Stanford Bubble, I like to entertain myself with a bunch of stuff...mostly Michael Jackson songs (Thriller is one of my favorites!), looking at baby animals, going to sports games (Lakers, Dodgers, Stanford football...if only they would win more often at HOME), watching movies with my boyfriend, chillin', and other random things.

I'm interested in making some lasting contributions to ΣΘΨ before I graduate. I enjoy our events and now more than ever I understand the time and care needed to organize and plan. Being a Neo has showed me that there is always something to learn and to improve on. Although doing the best you can do is important, it is critical to understand that learning is an on-going process and there should never be a point where one should stop. ΣΘΨ has been an incredible experience thus far, and I know that it will only get better!

A special shoutout to my Dazzling DZ LSisters! I love you silly sleepyheads and remember..."We're going on an adventure!!!"

Hey ya’ll! My name is Jordi Handcox, and I am a senior double majoring in International Relations (focus on International Economics) and Psychology (Health and Social Psychology). I was born and raised near Austin, Texas, so I gotta rep that Texas pride…holla! Back home, my family’s almost as diverse as the Sisters of Sigma Theta Psi; my Mom/best friend/confidant is white, my Dad’s side of the family is African-American, and my Step-Mom is Latina. Moving away from them to Stanford has only made my family and I closer, and I have finally realized how blessed I am to have each one of my 5 siblings and all of my parents.

Thanks to the love, support, and undying resolve of my DaZZling Zeta Class, I became a PROUD sister of Sigma Theta Psi in the Spring of 2007. Although I’m new to the Sisterhood, being a member of Sigma Theta Psi has undoubtedly changed my life forever, not to mention increased the amount of Purple, Black, and Gold in my wardrobe exponentially? Being connected with such thoughtful, strong, and caring women is a true blessing, and I know I’ll take a little piece of each of my Sisters with me when I graduate next Spring.

In addition to holding it down for STP, I also play for Stanford Women’s Club Volleyball, love, love, LOVE to dance in the club, watch obscene amounts of Law and Order, and buy incredibly impractical, but oh-so-sexy heels (I know, I’m already 5’11” without them, but I can’t help myself). I hope to one day get my M.B.A and become a hospital administrator and along the way continue building lasting relationships with my Sisters, even after I graduate! T-PSI ‘til I die baby!
