γεια σου! (That’s Greek for “Hi!”)

My name (if you haven’t guessed already from its prominent position over my picture) is Sarah Johnson, and I am a member of the Class of 2009. I’m majoring in Urban Studies with a concentration in Urban Planning and Specialized Napping (but Stanford hasn’t incorporated the latter into the curriculum yet, so I don’t get units for the extra effort). I spent half of my life in LA and the other half in North Carolina—shout out to Siler City—with my parents and little brother…who I guess isn’t that little anymore. But I can pretend. :-) I [theoretically] play tennis and soccer, I like to read, sleep, go to the movies, and visit theme parks, and I speak two other languages exceptionally un-fluently. Just like my link above me, SouLjah, I LOVE music.

I feel I should mention here how much I adore Mariah Carey. I’ve been a fan since I was four—and I am not exaggerating. And my favorite color is…PURPLEBLACK&GOLD. Okay, seriously…my favorite color is purple. And my favorite food is pretzels…so if you want to get me a present…ahem.

Moving on, in the SPRING of 2006 I became a PROUD and exTREordinary sister of Sigma Theta Psi Sorority, Incorporated—one of my more brilliant moves, I must say :-). There really aren’t enough words to describe the many ways in which ΣΘΨ has enriched my life, not the least of which being the incredible sisterhood I share with my amazing sorors. If you want to find a woman of substance, come and talk to a Sigma.

Holdin’ it down for the TRE club,

Sarah

Samantha Sachs

#5, Mama

Hi everyone, my name is Samantha Sachs, but most people know me as Sammie. I am an enthusiastic member of the all-too-fine Stanford Class of '09, double majoring in English and Urban Studies with a minor in Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity. I'm from Deerfield, IL, a Northwest suburb of the great city of Chicago and a PROUD sister of the Delta Chapter of Sigma Theta Psi Sorority, Incorporated.

Ever since I could talk, I've been very involved in theater, and for a while I thought that performing was what I would do for the rest of my life. Ultimately, I chose the academic route and ended up at Stanford in the fall of 2005. Although never in my wildest dreams did I imagine myself in a sorority, becoming a member of Sigma Theta Psi in the Spring of '06 (holler ata 5 club!) has been one of the most fulfilling experiences I've had at Stanford. I cherish the Sisterhood that I have found with the true Women of Substance who comprise this organization, and I have infinite respect for the work and values that we uphold. I consider multiculturalism to be the most important principle that we embody--and something that the whole world needs to understand better, too!

Overall, I consider myself an eternal work in progress.

I love traveling, good lighting, movies, laughing hard, discovering new music, babies, hanging out with my Sorors, expanding my mind, and eating sweet food!

STP till I D.I.E.

India Alston

#7, Hustla

Hi everyone! My name is India Alston and I am a proud member of the Epsilon Class of Delta Chapter. I have been a sister since the Spring of 2006 while holding few, but very exciting positions in the sorority. I currently stand as the Northern Region Representative and in the midst of work and school am as active as I can be when it comes to Sigma Theta Psi. To tell you a little about me: I am 23 and currently working with an environmental consulting firm in San Francisco as an administrative assistant. I reside in West Oakland and more than anything I am excited about the 10 minute commute from work to home! I love to sleep in late, watch movies, listen to music, chat online or on the phone (attached at the hip with my sidekick lol), cook and go clubbing! In the near future I will be pursuing a Masters of Fine Arts in Advertising at the Academy of Art in San Francisco and hopefully will know what I want to do with my life at that point! I enjoy spending time with my lovely sisters for both business and social matters and look forward to a LIFETIME of greatness with Sigma Theta Psi!
