Coming Soon 8-11pm Event: To be announced.
Location:
Sigma Nu House |
It has been said that there is no typical Sigma Nu. Indeed, we are a “renaissance fraternity,” a diverse group of well-respected men -- scholars, political innovators, musicians, RAs, varsity athletes, entrepreneurs, community service leaders—all dedicated both to our individual goals and to the brotherhood we’ve created in our fraternity. In our fourth year at 557 Mayfield, we continue to contribute to the campus community in dynamic and unique ways.
During the year we throw two of the biggest events on the Stanford campus, Moonsplash and Sunsplash. This past fall’s “Sigma New York” featured live bands, three dance floors, multiple corporate sponsors, and a stunning attendance. Within weeks we hosted the Sigma Nu Arts and Poetry Slam (SNAPS). Guests relaxed in our lounge and listened to their peers share songs, poems and spoken word regarding everything from politics to comedy.
Those are two of the many events that make Sigma Nu stand out. We host many parties in addition to the Splashes, as well as faculty nights, barbecues, balcony nights, formals, cocktail parties, and a snow trip, to name a few. We are also committed to our community service projects. This fall we conducted the first annual Big Gift competition with the UC Berkeley chapter of Sigma Nu in which we donated over 1000 toys to charity. Our members are highly active in various service groups and activities including Ravenswood Reads, EPATT, blood drives, canned food drives, and a Haunted House for local children that we co-host. Members of Sigma Nu are effecting change on a national level, founding the Roosevelt Institution and FACEAIDS, a nonprofit organization raising a million dollars to fight AIDS in Africa. As a group and as individuals we are committed to academics, boasting one of the highest GPAs in the Stanford Greek community.
But what is most important is the spirit behind these undertakings: the brotherhood that binds us together. We are a collection of strong individuals, each defining the Beta Chi chapter with our particular talents, and we live together striving to embody the true sense of fraternity. Sigma Nu is an involved community where we constantly shape and are shaped by the men around us.
Drop by the house sometime and take the time to consider what the fraternity means to us (and you). Learn what it is like to surround yourself with some of the most interesting and exciting men at Stanford. Learn what it is like to be Sigma Nu.
