SIAS

Welcome to the Society for International Affairs at Stanford!

We are a student organization devoted to providing a community and an extracurricular outlet for students interested in international relations. Although our membership is comprised primarily of undergraduate social science majors, we are all-inclusive. Some of the organization’s most storied members, Ben Goldsmith and Boris Hanin, were, respectively, mechanical engineering and math majors. So, if you are at all interested in any of the programs you see on the site, don’t hesitate to sign up - enter your contact info in the “join SIAS” box and come to the next BBQ/Frisbee game!

This site explains SIAS programming, catalogs on-campus events which focus on international affairs, and provides various academic resources. I would like to throughly explain the IR Events page here.

The IR Events Page is updated on a weekly basis and contains information on events organized by SIAS, the Center for Democracy, Development, and the Rule of Law; the Freeman Spogli Institute; the Political Science Department; Economics Department; International Comparative and Area Studies; and History Department. We are happy to include any information about any on-campus event concerned with international affairs. If you wish to have your event included on the site, please e-mail stanfordsias@gmail.com with the event name, time, location, and a brief description.

Although we do the best we can to provide accurate information, rooms occasionally switch and events sometimes postpone. If you see an event that interests you, please double check our information with the department website before going.

The rest of the linked pages (see the green buttons in the header) contain detailed summaries, please explore them to learn more about SIAS and our events! I’ll see you at the faculty-student basketball game!
