MEDICAL GRAND ROUNDS - JUNE 4, 1998 - FAIRCHILD - 8:00 a.m.
As a guest of TOM MERIGAN, Richard Pollard (Professor of Medicine and Director of AIDS Clinical Trials Unit at UT Galveston) will talk about the effects of CMV disease layered onto patients with HIV infection. This immunologic enhancement has variable effects that Dr. Pollard and his colleagues have dissected very well.
It is interesting, parenthetically, (this is a game) to think of two diseases that make both worse. Examples:
ankylosing spondylitis and COPD
Paget's Disease of Bone and hyperparathyroidism
There may be a prize for she or he who can think of the most original nasty combination!
ALSO - Kelley Skeff will present the House Staff/Faculty teaching awards.
See you there . . .
