JAMES F. FRIES, M.D.

"Aging, Health Risks, Cumulative Disability, and the Compression of Morbidity"

Too long a title to get on one line ... but it's a metaphor for Jim Fries' ablility to generate sound data from many sources and develop from those good data sound hypotheses. His work over the past several years has validated his hypothesis developed in the 1980's that, since it is unlikely that the mean human life span will be increased more than it is, our goal should be to compress into a shorter and shorter time the change from good functional health to death. Sounds good to me. . . how do we do it? Come and listen and comment.
