Sharks in Hot Water: A Forensic Investigation of the Fin Trade

Two student scientists set out to find out why shark populations are declining. They interview experts and learn that the demand for shark fin soup has increased dramatically in recent history and that all shark species are now targets of the fin trade. Over the course of the movie, the protagonists travel to Chinatown in San Francisco, collect shark fins, and carry out an experiment using forensic molecular biology to identify the fins. Along the way, they eat celery, drive a van, and meet a special someone who will change their lives forever.
