Schedule of events

Keynote address

We are delighted to welcome Prof. Saba Mahmood of the Department of Anthropology at UC Berkeley as our keynote speaker for Friday, October 23rd.

Film screening

Following the keynote address, SFAS will be screening “I Bring What I Love,” a critically-acclaimed documentary from director Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi.  The 2009 film chronicles Senegalese pop sensation Youssou N’Dour’s journey to record and release Egypt, a deeply personal and controversial album promoting a more tolerant face of Islam.
