former
coaching staff
The Stanford Equestrian Team would like to acknowledge
those individuals who have played such an integral role
in shaping our team. Thank you so much for all the work,
time, and effort you dedicated to the team; it would not
be what it is without all of the people who have been on
our coaching staff.
| Jana
Cain |
As a Stanford undergraduate, Jana was a Team Horse
Manager and a fierce competitor for the Western
Team, earning a 3rd place finish at 1998 Nationals.
She played an instrumental role in the Red Barn's
renaissance, working with Gwyn Gordon and Vanessa
Bartsch to create the business model for the new
Stanford Red Barn Equestrian Center. Though she
lived and worked in the East Bay during her time
coaching at Stanford, she still drove down to the
Red Barn twice a week to coach and never missed a
horse show. Her huge dedication to developing
Stanford's Western Team culminated with a banner
2008 season, with Stanford Western finishing in the
Top 10 at Nationals.

| Jessica Connor |
Jessica Connor began riding at age 11 in Ann Arbor, MI under trainer Cindy Carlson Phibbs. She competed throughout the US and Canada in the Jr/AO Jumpers and the 'big eq,' qualifying for the ASPCA Maclay Medal Finals. She continued to show on the 'A' Circuit throughout college in addition to competing as an Open rider for the University of Michigan Equestrian Team.
Jessica moved to Stanford for graduate school and started working with the Stanford Equestrian Team in early 2005. Besides working with the team, Jess also worked with local hunter/jumper equestrians in Portola Valley and Woodside, including Woodside Junior Riders, where Jessica served as Head Instructor.

| Jennifer Henderson |
Jen
joined the Stanford Equestrian Team as a freshman and was never
quite able to escape. In her junior years, Jen was a constant
presence on the equitation circuit, consistently
finishing on Top 10 Year-End leaderboards and
qualifying for all the major medal finals. As an undergrad, Jen
played polo for Stanford. While losing a hard-fought battle with Davis at the
Western Regionals, Jen was nominated as one of the Western All
Stars. Jen graduated
from Stanford with a B.S. and a M.S. in chemical engineering.
After her graduation, Jen returned to
hunter/jumpers, turning professional and balancing
working as an assistant trainer to John Charlebois
with her work as a Medical Device Engineer. In 2006,
Jen returned to the team in a coaching capacity,
taking on
coaching the high school program at Stanford in addition to
assisting with the college program.
