SEAM strives to have a deep understanding of microfinance in order to advocate on its behalf. To that end, members engage in discussions regarding the ongoing developments and innovations in the field, attend Silicon Valley Microfinance Network events in San Francisco, and network with professionals in the field. On campus, we sponsor events where microfinance professionals come to Stanford to give presentations to students, faculty, and administrators. Further, we host an Annual Microfinance Day in the spring, and participate in smaller workshops throughout the year to educate the student body. In partnership with nonprofit One Hen, Inc., we send members to East Palo Alto elementary schools to teach a microfinance-based curriculum centered around ideas of global awareness, personal initiative, and giving back. All events sponsored by SEAM are open to the Stanford community.
