We just returned from our yearly retreat at Pajaro Dunes. It was a blast!

  • April 18 2006

We had a great meeting yesterday at Haas center. KB KT and Leng came down to join us, and we met some of the applicants to our projects this summer and got to know them better.

    Meeting details:

We talked about our upcoming retreat, to be held from 4/28/2006-4/30/2006 at Pajaro Dunes. At the retreat, all members of the projects will come together to know each other and rev up for the upcoming projects. At the retreat, we'll cover issues as diverse as:

    • Vision and what does this mean for us as individuals and as a group?
    • Leadership and Service
    • Coaching and Personal Growth
    • Interpersonal and cross-cultural relationships
    • Ethics (what would happen if we did what we did and what would happen if we did not do it)
    • Social Entrepreneurship
    • Project planning specifics
    • Mini-Spot-light-On

Some of the potential outcomes that we hope to achieve include the passing of the torch and the equipping of the team with the tools to manage the workshops that will be held on the trips. In particular, we wish to produce the documentation that teaches specifically how to run the SEALNet leadership curriculum.

Leng is primarily in charge of the various sessions at the retreat, and he would love to work with students to create a SEALNet curriculum that fits our character. This would be a wonderful opportunity for anyone interested in coaching skills to get some first hand experience, so do contact Leng if interested.

Our conference is now over and it was great fun to see many new faces and interact with the other participants. There was even a group of three who came all the way from Berkeley! Kudos to Leng, our advisor who co-ordinated the conference, for doing a wonderful job! More updates to come!
