INTERNSHIP: SUMMER YOUTH MENTORING
Posted: Friday March 16, 2012.

The Stanford University Center for Sustainable Development & Global Competitiveness is committed to inspiring innovative thinking for sustainable development by sharing our expertise in research and education. We are seeking up to two passionately creative yet approachable undergraduate or graduate Stanford students for an internship to guide, counsel and mentor visiting students attending CSDGC Youth Creativity, Innovation and Sustainable Leadership (YCISL) workshops. These workshops are part of a growing effort to influence youth to think more broadly about how their educational development will affect their future – particularly in the cross-generational topic of sustainability.

The appointed interns will engage in pre-emptive readiness, frontline mentoring, and teaching for summer workshops. Mentoring and teaching will be the main responsibilities.

To be successful in this internship, we feel the candidate should have the following personal qualities: Initiative. Motivation. Can-do attitude. Persuasive. Encouraging. A balanced mix of reasoning and creativity. Further, an aptitude for communication and emotional intelligence will likely contribute to the intern’s positive experience and outcome.

Candidates MUST be current Stanford students at least through Summer 2012. Compensation based on the Stanford Undergraduate Wage Scale will be offered. The appointed intern MUST be present (varies from 6 to 10 hours per day) for workshops on the following dates: June 18-27, July 24-29 AND August 5-13, 2012.

To be considered for this internship, submit via email to Colin Ong at cgong@stanford.edu your resumé and a cover letter by April 16, 2012. Only short-listed candidates will be contacted to meet for an interview.
