Classic Videos

The following are our currently available classic videos.

  • Charlie Chaplin Clips

These are classic clips which bring home the experience of poverty but in a way which is not overwhelming or difficult to bear viewing. Charlie presents an inarguable image of the suffering that goes along with the experience of hunger or powerlesness, yet he gets people to laugh with him. Perhaps on seeing these timeless clips they will be moved to take up the debate and become involved in solving these problems [visit film feature page].

  • Martin Luther King Clips

Martin Luther King was one of the 20th century's most visible advocates of nonviolence and direct action as methods of social change, and an outspoken opponent of the Vietnam war. Our grateful thanks to The Chaplin Estate for generously donating the use of Chaplin's brilliant and unforgettable footage from Modern Times and Gold Rush on this website, and to director Christopher Speeth for generously donating the use of his valuable and rare Martin Luther King footage. If you know a filmmaker who is similarly civic minded who would be willing to donate the use of a short segment of footage in order to help us shine a light on domestic poverty issues, we would be most grateful if you would make the introduction.
