Midday Sutra Chanting
(nicchû fugin)

Text chanted:

Victor's Dharani (Sonshô darani)

Eko:

Having chanted the Crown of the Victor Dharani, we reverently offer the merit generated thereby to our Great Benefactor and Founder of the Doctrine, the Original Teacher Shakyamuni Buddha [or whatever other figure is currently enshined as the main object of veneration in the practice place], to the Eminent Ancestor Dogen, to the Great Ancestor Keizan, to the three jewels in the ten directions, and the myriad spirits of the triple world.

What we pray for is tranquility within the monastery, a calm setting for cultivation of the way, the avoidance of all calamities, and that all conditions may be favorable.
