Carl
Bielefeldt, Director, is Professor
of Religious Studies. A graduate of Berkeley, he is the author
of Dogen's Manuals of Zen Meditation and other works on
Japanese Zen Buddhism. Carl is editor-in-chief of the Soto Zen
Text Project and director of Stanford's Center for East Asian
Studies.

Wendy Abraham, Associate
Director, is a doctoral candidate in Asian Languages, working
on modern Chinese literature. Prior to coming to ARC, Wendy was
the assistant director of Stanford's Center for East Asian Studies,
manager of the Asian Fulbright Program in New York, and resident
director of CIEE's Chinese language programs in Beijing and Shanghai.

Pasang Sherpa, Program
Associate, is a graduate of Santa Clara University. A Nepalese
citizen, she was educated in India and the U.S. Pasang administers
programs for both ARC and the Stanford Center for Buddhist Studies,
as well as assisting at the Dalai Lama Foundation.

Linda Hess, ARC/South
Asia Director, is a lecturer in Religious Studies. A graduate
of Berkeley, Linda specializes in Hinduism and is the author
of The Bijak of Kabir and articles on interpretation and
performance of the Ramayana.

Fabrizio Pregadio,
ARC/China Director, is an Acting Associate Professor in Religious
Studies. A graduate of Naples, Fabrizio specializes in Taoism
and is the author of a forthcoming book on Chinese alchemy and
editor of the forthcoming Encyclopedia of Taoism.

Tenzin Tethong, ARC/Tibet
Director, is a Research Fellow at ARC, developing data on the
study of Tibet in the West. Former Chairman of the Kashag, the
Tibetan Cabinet, and U.S. representative of the Dalai Lama, Tenzin
is president of the Dalai Lama Foundation. He has taught in both
History and Continuing Studies at Stanford.
