  Welcome!

We are a student group formed at Stanford University in the fall of 2006 in response to the continued practice of apartheid by the state of Israel. Please note, in April of 2007 we changed our name from "in Israel" to "by Israel" to better reflect our aims and clear up any misconceptions.

On January 24, 2007, SCAI unveiled a campaign to encourage the university to divest from companies in Israel and the Occupied Territories that violate human rights and support apartheid. For more information, please see the "why divest?" menu on the left. The slide deck from the campaign launch presentation is here. The transcript of the undergraduate senate debate contains statements from SCAI and the Stanford Israel Alliance along with a Q&A session. The bill presented to the senate is available here.

Why should you care?

$2 billion of American taxpayer money goes to Israel every year, funding their military occupation. Stanford, in particular, potentially invests in companies that are involved in the violation of human rights and international law.
