Frederic (Ken Savage '14) has just reached his 21st year, completing his terms of apprenticeship to the not-so-frightening Browncoat Pirates of Penzance, led by the Pirate King (Gerar Mazarakis '15). Upon disembarking from the ship, he promptly encounters a group of beautiful Companions, wards of Major-General Stanley (Eric Lowe), and, never having seen a woman besides his nursemaid Ruth (Marisa Lenhardt), he is somewhat stunned. He instantly falls in love with their leader, the lovely Mabel (Kelly Eshoff).
With the aid of the Alliance Policemen, Frederic makes plans to eliminate the pirates once and for all so he can marry Mabel and live happily ever after. However, things take a turn for the worse when Frederic discovers that he was born in a leap year on February 29th, which means he has another 63 years to serve out in his apprenticeship, until his real 21st birthday. Bound by his own sense of duty, Frederic's only solace is that Mabel agrees to wait for him faithfully.
