Sanskriti > Sanskriti Special Events Committee

Overview

Apart from its practical purpose of coordinating shows, the Special Events Committee is an essential and important part of the Sanskriti team in its responsibility to showcase the South Asian performing arts culture to Stanford. The shows it coordinates are an outlet for our many talented members to share their passions with the rest of the community and also for anyone interested to learn and participate in the more colorful and rhythmical aspects of our culture.

The Special Events Committee is responsible for organizing Sanskriti's three big shows - Festival of Lights in the Autumn, Rhythms in the Winter and Mela in the Spring. These are large, dynamic, and exciting shows that feature talent from across campus. Each show has a different focus, with Festival of Lights targeted at incorporating the newly-arrived freshmen; Rhythms serving as a multicultural charity event, thus allowing us to expand and integrate our culture into the larger community of Stanford while also raising money for a worthy cause; and Mela allowing anyone and everyone, regardless of prior experience, to participate. Through these shows, Sanskriti is able to reach out to the broader Stanford community, while also providing venues for their members to perform.
