Welcome to the SAID website!

International development is as diverse a topic as the nations of our planet - yet it is interconnected in important ways. Hopefully, what you find on this website will help you explore what international development is and where you might fit into it.

SAIDtogether

This is the Stanford student community's primary international development list. The list is used to notify members of the Stanford international development community about events that SAID is sponsoring or co-sponsoring, as well as other important development-related programming or opportunities on campus. It is a low-traffic last that receives less than 5 emails a week, posted by SAID staff members only. To subscribe send an email to saidtogether-join@lists.stanford.edu (topic and body of email are ignored).

Krasner event wrap-up

The discussion on Foreign Aid with the student panel and Prof. Krasner went extremely well. All five student speakers were excellent, and a lively discussion with Dr. Krasner ensued after his own thoughtful remarks.

We look forward to continuing this model of student participation next year, and we encourage students to continue sharing their views.

Thanks to everyone who helped make this event a success!

Visions of The Future

At our most recent SAID meeting, we thought about how we could organize our programming around a central theme. Ultimately, it was decided, SAID is a networking organization. SAID hopes to act as a connector between students interested in international development and the other students, NGOs, and faculty available to them.

Debate foreign aid with Prof. Stephen Krasner!

SAID is looking for students interested in foreign aid to speak at an upcoming event. If you've taken a class on foreign aid, if you have work experience that brought you in contact with foreign aid, or if you just feel strongly about aid, please email saidevents@gmail.com . Let us know what you want to speak about and what background you have (if any) with this topic.

We will choose 4-5 students who will give prepared remarks at the beginning of the event. After this, Prof. Krasner will respond to your arguments and evidence. At the end of his comments we will open the floor for questions.

This event will take place on the evening of May 31, location TBA.
