Clinical Research Coordinator

The Rehabilitation Research & Development Center at VA Palo Alto Health Care System (VAPAHCS) seeks a Clinical Research Coordinator to support projects investigating outcomes of rehabilitation interventions for persons with mobility impairments such as post-stroke hemiparesis and osteoporosis. The range of research activities is broad and includes special emphasis on biomedical, rehabilitation engineering, clinical rehabilitation and neurophysiology. The RR&D Center has an opening for a Clinical Research Coordinator. The candidate for this program is responsible for the full range of clinical study coordination for investigations of neuro-rehabilitation for locomotion and upper-extremity function in persons with post-stroke hemiparesis.

Job Duties: Recruit appropriate subjects and screen subjects for eligibility and understanding of study's criteria; assess actual or potential health problems of subjects and report/document adverse effects in accordance with good clinical practice guidelines and with an understanding of the protection of human subjects; identify actual or potential side effects related to investigational drugs; collect medical information on subjects (i.e., baseline history, medical records, medical clearance, lab work, MRI and psychosocial); follow-up evaluations with subjects on a regular basis; responsible for submission, renewal and revision of regulatory documents to IRB/other regulatory boards; collect and maintain data and documentation for sponsoring companies and regulatory agencies, i.e., IRB, VA, NIH, and other relevant Research and Development entities.

Qualifications: The successful candidate will possess the following: clinical research experience; knowledge of Use of Human Subjects in Research requirements, good clinical practice and HIPAA regulations; ability to assess health of subjects at a provider level; excellent communication skills, both oral and written; utilize resources to recruit appropriate subjects; ability to work independently but follow established protocol, updating supervisor as required. BS in Nursing or Licensure as Physical or Occupational Therapist along with a current license and experience working with neurologically involved patient groups is strongly preferred. This is a full-time position with all applicable benefits. U.S. Citizenship is required.
