Interested in Research of Osteoarthritis?

Volunteers needed for scientific study:


Purpose: To evaluate the effect of walking exercise on proteins in the bloodstream for people with and without knee osteoarthritis.

You will receive $100 for one 8 hour visit to the Palo Alto Veterans Hospital and Stanford University in reimbursement for your participation time. The study requires an MRI scan of your knees, a biomechanical gait analysis test, and 30 minutes of walking at a moderate intensity. During the course of the day six (6) small blood samples will be drawn. There is no cost for participation.

The following criteria must be met to qualify for the study:

  • No heart disease
  • Able to walk without assistive device
