The Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) Bay Area & Western Chapter and the Spinal Cord Injury Service at the Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System are now accepting applications for the 2001 Summer Scholars Program which runs from June 18 to August 24, 2001.

This unique and exciting summer experience accepts five (5) undergraduate students or recent graduates interested in exploring academic medicine and clinical research. The VA Palo Alto Health Care System, located in Palo Alto, CA, is closely affiliated with Stanford University Medical School and is recognized as one of the finest VA teaching hospitals in the country.

Each Scholar will work under the supervision of a faculty member on an independent research project focusing on spinal cord injury medicine. In addition, the scholars attend numerous seminars and lectures regarding a broad diversity of medical specialties. A $4,000 stipend is awarded to each scholar.
