  GRADUATE RESEARCH AND TEACHING ASSISTANTSHIPS

This announcement presents the 2013-14 minimum salary rates for Graduate Research Assistants and Graduate Teaching Assistants.

The adjustments announced here set the minimum RA and TA salaries at a level that takes into consideration their projected non-tuition expenses.

Graduate Research Assistants

The MINIMUM salary for a 50% Research Assistantship appointment in 2013-14 will be $8,293 per quarter. The minimum rate applies to summer quarter, as well as the academic year. Appointments of less than 50% FTE should be pro-rated. Stanford University does not set a maximum salary for Research Assistants.

Graduate Teaching Assistants

The following are the MINIMUM Teaching Assistant salaries for a 50% appointment for the 2013-4 academic year. The minimum salary for appointments of less than 50% should be pro-rated.

Health Insurance Fringe Benefit Rate

All salaries paid to Graduate Research or Teaching Assistants will be charged a fringe benefit rate to subsidize a portion of the cost of Cardinal Care insurance for students with assistantship appointments. The 2012-13 fringe benefit rate for assistantship salaries is 5.0%. The fringe benefit rate for 2013-14 is still under negotiation.
