ETA- Samuel Early

Born in Portland Oregon, City of Roses, and raised from the age of six in the obscure and easily-confused city of Vancouver (not BC), Washington (not DC), Samuel Early is a product of the great Pacific Northwest. He loves Market Spice Tea, the Seattle Mariners, the Cascade Mountains and the Portland Rose Quarter. He wishes the Blazers would behave themselves, but is slowly losing faith in their ability to improve.

His parents both went to Stanford, as did his mother's mother, and both of her parents, and then two of his grandmother’s great aunts before that, one of whom was in the pioneer class. This makes Sam the fifth generation to attend Stanford. He has been aware of his destiny since the age of three.

Sam is the eldest of three children--he has one brother, Joe, a high school senior, and one sister, Martha, a high school junior. His home is full of cats: one is old and lazy, another middle-aged and spritely, the third young and lazy. All three have been inspirational to Sam over the years, as has The Rocky Horror Picture Show and The Far Side.

Currently, Sam is pursuing a major in biomechanical engineering, mostly because he likes obscure majors that 1) offer a high degree of course flexibility, 2) are awkward to say but difficult to abbreviate, and 3) are impossible to explain fully within a 24-hour time span. His interests outside of class include the Stanford Axe Committee, the Stanford Men’s Ultimate Team, Aikido, the Hispanic Undergraduate Business Association, and fountain-hopping.
