The son of a movie producer, Dario Argento was destined for a career in in the film industry. Argento has been professionally screen writing for forty years. He first won acclaim when he co-authored Once Upon a Time in the West (1969). The following year, he made his directing debut with The Bird With the Crystal Plumage. Argento¹s collection of works is considered to be part of the giallo (yellow) genre, named after the yellow covers of the penny thriller paperbacks that were sold in Italy. Argento is also known for his fascination with voyeurism and use of humor He has released twelve movies so far and has worked on three Italian television series. He received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2nd Montreal Festival International Cinema Fantastique in 1994.
