EDUC 100C: Race and Higher Education: Asian American Perspectives
Fridays 12:00 - 1:00 PM at EAST House (Lunch Included)
American higher education has had to continually struggle with issues of difference, particularly racial and ethnic cultural difference, throughout its history. Over the previous decade and a half, “multicultural” issues have again stood out as signposts contributing to the evolution of higher education in the U.S. and the particular directions change has taken. An Asian American perspective is critical to approaching and understanding many of the critical issues of our day: Affirmative action and access, racial and social identity development, the racial campus climate, and racial diversity in the curriculum and faculty. In this seminar we will have the opportunity to have critical conversations about these topics and discuss how they are manifest in today’s college environments.
