SANDOR SALGO MEMORIAL CONCERT
Carmel Bach Festival Associate Director, Andrew Megill, the Festival Chorale and members of the Festival Orchestra pay homage to former Stanford Music Professor and Carmel Bach Festival Musical Director, Maestro Sandor Salgo, with Songs of Solace, a concert featuring the music of Bach, Distler, Schütz and Scheidt. Two sterling concerts showcasing the unique blending of exquisite organ music with the stunning beauty of Memorial Church. Co-sponsored by the Office for Religious Life and the Department of Music.
- Wednesday, May 21, 8:00 pm, Memorial Church. Will it be Bach, Mendelssohn or Rachmaninoff – contemporary compositions or a mix? Hear for yourself in this organist’s choice concert. Iain Quinn, Welsh organist and Director of Cathedral Music, Cathedral Church of St. John, Albuquerque, New Mexico, shares his favorite masterworks on the powerful Murray Harris organ. - Friday, June 13, 8:00 pm, Memorial Church. Stanford University Organist, Dr. Robert Huw Morgan, offers an elegant musical overture to the weekend’s festivities with Louis Vierne’s Sixth Symphony – the quintessence of the Romantic organ symphony – and Charles-Marie Widor’s 3rd Symphony. Free and open to all.


A reflective 30-minute musical service of hymns, chant and psalms sung by a variety of Stanford and local choirs in the candlelit ambiance of Memorial Church. All religious and non-religious backgrounds welcome.
Sundays, 9:00 – 9:30 pm (during the academic year), Memorial Church. Spring quarter dates: April 13, 20 & 27; May 4 & 18; and June 1 & 8.(In observance of Mother’s Day and the Memorial Day Weekend, there will be no Compline services on Sunday, May 11, and Sunday, May 25, respectively.)
