Our Mission

"To guide, nurture and enhance spiritual, religious and ethical life within the Stanford University community".

We are collectively committed and devoted to ensuring lively, thoughtful and supportive contexts for Stanford students, faculty and staff who wish to pursue spiritual interests. We recognize that a spiritual/religious journey can be an important, balancing complement to the numerous challlenges one faces in the pursuit of academic and career goals.

While each one of us participates in and leads worship and study in her/his own religious traditions, our primary objective as a staff is to collaborate as a multi-faith team and work with all constituents of this dynamic university.

Our aim is to promote enriching dialogue, meaningful ritual, and enduring friendships among people of all religious backgrounds. Read more>>

University Public Worship (UPW)

What happens when a minister, a rabbi and a priest put their heads together? Well, not your average church service, that’s for sure. Weekly Christian ecumenical services include sermons by the Deans for Religious Life and occasional guest preachers, and music featuring University Organist Dr. Robert Huw Morgan and the Memorial Church Choir, under the direction of Gregory Wait; Communion twice monthly; multi-faith service generally once monthly; baptisms once each quarter. Childcare provided during the academic year for those children pre-school-aged and younger. Sundays, 10:00 a.m., Memorial Church. All are welcome.

UPW REBROADCASTS ON KZSU Miss a Sunday service? KZSU 90.1 FM rebroadcasts the 10:00 am University Public Worship service on the Internet at kzsulive.stanford.edu and on 90.1 FM every Sunday at 11:30 am.
