Gear Care
To
ensure that you will get your deposit back, bring your gear back
in good condition. Here is the list of
what the people at the gear shed will check when you bring your gear back. Back to

General |
- Ask if they had any problems with the gear.
- Check that ID #s match.
- Check for dampness, dirt, damage, and missing pieces.

Tents |
- Have the renter pull out pieces.
- Ask whether the tent is clean & dry.
- Check for ground tarp. Check that all pieces listed on the tag are present and
undamaged and have ID tags that match the tent.
- Check for dampness, dirt.

|
Sleeping bags |
- Ask whether the bag is clean & dry.
- Make sure the stuff sack and bag ID’s match.
- Check for dampness, dirt, and damage

|
Backpacks |
- Check for dampness, dirt, and tears.
- Check for missing or broken buckles (waist, chest, top, side).
- Check shoulder straps & zippers.
- On internal frames, check metal & plastic components of frame.

Stove sets |
- Make sure they brought stove, sack, pot, pot top,
rectangular wind guard, circular heat reflector, and
fuel bottle with pump.
- Ask if the stove had any problems.
- Make sure the pot & top each have two handle pieces.
- Check for visible damage to pump and stove.

Pots |
- Make sure the pot & top each have two handle pieces.
- Ask if they washed it. Check for dirt.
|
|
Clothing/ Nalgenes |
- Ask if they washed it. Check for dirt and dampness.
|
|
Snowshoes |
- Check that all buckles are present and working. Check for ripped straps. Check
for unusually worn teeth.
|
|
Snow shovels |
- Check if it has been bent.
|
|
Climbing gear |
- Check harnesses for missing pieces, broken tighteners, or visible
wear.

Maps/ Guidebooks |
- Check for water damage or dirt.
