Gear Care
To
ensure that you will get your deposit back, here are some
suggestions on how to take care of the gear you rent from
Redwood.
Link to what gear people will
check
when you return your gear
During your trip
| Tents
|
Secure
tent with stakes and / or parachute chord so it doesn't
blow away. Shoes off before you get in a tent. Zip doors
all the way up or all the way down to avoid breaking the
zippers . |
| Stoves
|
Only pump
MSR stoves 10 - 20 strokes at a time (enables you to
simmer & reduces the chance of head failure)
Keep dirt and water out of the pump, fuel bottle, and
stove.
|
| Backpacks
|
Animals
eat holes in the packs left with food in them. |
| Snowshoes |
Walk
ONLY on snow (at least 8" deep) (otherwise you will damage
the cleats). Attach snuggly to boot so bindings don't
chafe and tear. |
When you get
back
Return all items dirt free & dry.
| Tents,
tarps |
They
must be returned DRY! To remove dirt/dry, set up in a
shaded area and wipe soiled area with a soft damp sponge/rag.
Do not use soap or anything that has an odor. |
| Sleeping
bags and sleeping pads |
The
must be returned DRY! Hang them out to dry, wipe of any
excess dirt or dust with a wet cloth. Do not wash in the
washing machine, do not use soap. |
| Stoves |
Clean spills
off wind screens. Make sure all the parts are present.
Tell the Gear Guru if the stove is not working properly
because stoves often need maintenance.
|
| Pots
and Water Bottles |
Clean
with soap and hot water. Dry.
(tip: the slighest spaghetti or Gatorade residue is extremely
disgusting and unacceptable) |
| Backpacks |
Empty
all the pockets. Hang out to air/dry. |
| Snowshoes
|
Rinse
off any dirt. |
Common sense and
responsibility are the best ways to ensure you get your deposit
back.
