Dear William Hogarth, Bruce Halstead, and whoever else this may concern,

hello, my name is stephanie and i am an inhabitant of planet earth. i'm going to make this short and sweet, because i'm sure you are absolutely flooded with mail and i really want you to pay attention to what i'm saying. first of all, i would like to thank you for listening to us at the hearing in oakland and taking into account what we had to say (sad isn't it that there is such a separation between us and you, aren't we all working for the same goal anyway?) i would just like to ask you a few questions and request a few things, though:

1. Have you ever actually visited Headwaters Forest? Have you ever been at once humbled and awed by the size and beauty of these magestic redwoods? before you continue to toss around the fate of this treasured place, i suggest you at least visit it. it is the least you can do considering your potential consent of plans for its destruction. give mother nature a bit of respect, please, she's given you a georgeous home and breathed life into you. for once, instead of merely raping her for personal luxuries, pay her some homage. but, if not even for the sake of respect, visit headwaters forest just so you can behold its beauty before it is completely destroyed, it's quite a breathtaking place (what's left of it)......

2. What is your occupation? you seem to have forgotten. what were your dreams and aspirations when you decided to pursue your career? have you acheived them, or perhaps neglected them? who did you want to become? are you THAT person? please, try to tap into your initial emotions concerning the well-being of the environment, if you still can. isn't it you job, wasn't it your dream, to nurture mother nature? why are you NOT doing your job? why do citizens of the community have to protest and get pepper-sprayed for you to do your job? why are you NOT protecting the earth? i don't need to get into scientific evidence to prove that what PL is doing is absolutely unnacceptable, you and i both know that the plan is absolutely horrendous for the forest's health. so, since we both know that PL is killing the environment, and you are supposed to protect it, WHY are you not doing so? who are you? or, rather, who have you become????

i really hope someone actually reads what i have taken the time to write. i do not mean to attack you in any way, and i apologize if this letter has negative undertones, but as you may guess, i am quite frustrated and disillusioned by our political system. i am frustrated by the fact that you nonchalantly discuss plans to destroy this land WITHOUT EVEN HAVING BEEN THERE (i am making an assumption of course) and disillusioned by the fact that money would proceed the health of the environment in priority (what else could it be?). why WOULD you allow Charles Hurwitz to do what he is doing? can you actually think of ONE honest, logical, and healthy reason? because i can't.......i encourage you to step back and assess the situation from a humanistic perspective: what are you doing, and why are you doing it? and remember, you can't eat money.......the future of Headwaters lies in your hands, please take care of it and protect it. please. peace

much love,
stephanie

i would LOVE to talk to you in person, so feel free to call/email/write:
