Volume III | Number 2 | Winter 2005
In recent months, PWR has welcomed three new faces to our staff. We’ve gathered a few tidbits about who they are, where they came from, and what they do both inside and outside the halls of Margaret Jacks:

Vani Kane, PWR Program Manager
Vani came to us from the Stanford Medical School, where she managed a National Institutes of Health clinical trial. As PWR’s Program Manager, her goal is to keep everything running efficiently and smoothly. “If I'm doing my job right, “ says Vani, “you shouldn't notice I'm here.” [Vani, you’re doing a great job, but no one can help but notice the bright smile you bring to the office every day.] In her leisure hours, Vani chases after her adorable 12-month old son, Tejas. She also enjoys swimming and reading—“but not at the same time.”

Arthur Palmon, PWR Enrollment and Course Coordinator
Art joined us from Stanford’s School of Education, where he served as Information/Course Coordinator. Prior to his arrival at Stanford, he worked in the heart of the Silicon Valley with high tech heavy hitters Apple and Cisco. In the newly created position of Enrollment and Course Coordinator, Art hopes “to provide a level of customer service that students, staff, and faculty well deserve.” A graduate of San Francisco State University, Art is currently working towards an M.A. in Anthropology at CSU Hayward. He and his wife Magnolia enjoy their two “very energetic” children, Gabriel (2) and Alexis (4). Art’s hobbies include poker, softball, fishing, and “most definitely golf.”

Marilenis Olivera, PWR Academic Technology Associate
Tech wizard Marilenis served as an interactive educational media designer/developer at Leapfrog, Macromedia, and the Multimedia Lab at Simón Bolivar University in Caracas, Venezuela. She was also an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Simón Bolivar and has taught at many Bay Area colleges. As Academic Technology Associate, Marilenis manages PWR’s tech classrooms, answers instructors’ tech questions, and develops “software applications to serve the program’s needs.” Marilenis holds a B.S. and an M.S. in Computer Science and an M.A. in Multimedia. When not reorganizing the laptop carts in Wallenberg, she likes swimming, scuba diving, dancing, and traveling. Marilenis invites us to view her online portfolio at http://mariolivera.3dnaut.com.
