PULSE Principal Investigator Jo Stöhr has been awarded the 2011 Davisson-Germer Prize in Surface or Atomic Physics sponsored by AT&T Bell Laboratories.
The citation for the prize is the following:
“For the development of soft x-ray based spectroscopy and microscopy leading to fundamental contributions to the understanding of chemical bonding, magnetism and dynamics at surfaces and interfaces.”
Z.-X. Shen has been named a co-recipient of the Buckley Prize for 2011. He shares the Prize with Drs. Juan Carlos Campuzano, Argonne National Laboratory and Peter Johnson, Brookhaven National Laboratory.
The citation is: "For innovations in angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy, which advanced the understanding of the cuprate superconductors, and transformed the study of strongly-correlated electronic systems."
The Prizes will be presented at the APS March meeting in Anaheim, California, March 21-25, 2011.
Way to go Jo and Z.X.!!!
